Candidates for panel recruitment submit memo (file photo)The panel of candidates for the appointment of assistant teachers of public elementary schools who passed the examination carried out in 2016 after the postponement in 2014 has demanded to implement the recommendation of the parliamentary commission on the appointment of teachers of the panel. Saleha Akhter, convener of the Central Committee for the Implementation of the 2014 Government Elementary School Recruitment Panel, made the demand on behalf of the panel’s candidates.

A meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Estimated Accounts on August 28 recommended the introduction of a panel system to address delays in hiring vacant elementary teacher positions. Following this recommendation, the panel of candidates demanded that the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education implement the recommendation.

Saleha Akhter told the Bengali Tribune: “To overcome the delay in filling assistant teacher vacancies without issuing new recruitment notices ruining the safety of people’s lives in the Corona epidemic, appointments should be made through the panel of those who passed the exam conducted in 2014 “. Because your working age has ended due to the postponement of the recruitment test for four years. Everyone now lives a jobless life waiting for the panel. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina certainly wants no deserving unemployed to be created in the country. Therefore, I demand to implement the recommendation of the parliamentary commission to fill the vacancy of primary school assistant teacher.

According to the candidates on the panel, 13 lakh of candidates participated in the written test for the recruitment of assistant teachers in government primary schools held in 2016, which was postponed in 2014. A total of 29,555 candidates passed. Despite having vacancies, only 9,006 people were hired. The pass rate on this test was only 2.3 percent. 19,006 people who have passed are still waiting to join the panel. However, many of them have already gone to other jobs, the sources said.

On the other hand, 36,147 people who passed the regular exam in 2017 have been demanding panel registration. The panel has also extorted money from many of the candidates in the name of appointing them to the panel in exchange for money. After the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education reported on the matter, on August 28, the top secretary of the ministry issued a notice warning the candidates.

It is said in the notification that after completing all the procedures, until June 30, 2016, considering all the vacancies, 18 thousand 148 positions have been filled. The hiring notice did not mention any panels. As a result, there was no panel or waiting list for this appointment. Hiring vacancies in public elementary schools is a routine process. There is no panel opportunity considering the vacancy in the future. In this context, assistant teachers will be appointed from the panel’s government elementary schools. All concerned were asked not to make money transactions at the instigation of selfish neighborhoods.
