Dhaka: The Passenger Rights Protection Council, an organization working on the country’s passenger rights movement, has demanded the introduction of limited public transportation in the country on condition that it meets health standards. At the same time, the organization has taken 11 recommendations for public transport.
The demand was made in a press release sent by the organization on Tuesday (May 11).
Secretary General of the Council for the Protection of Passenger Rights. Samsuddin Chowdhury said that life is as important as livelihood. And to combine the two, there is no alternative to launching public transportation. In the search for sustenance, everything has to start little by little. However, it is hygienic. It is possible to protect passengers from corona infection by taking 20 passengers in a 40-seater car with an unoccupied seat on public transport and washing their hands with disinfectant before getting in the car and cleaning the car with a spray disinfectant at the end of each tip. At the same time, 6 million transportation workers will also start earning a living.
Recommendations of the Passenger Rights Protection Council
Passengers arriving at bus stops and railway stations must have an infrared thermometer at the station to measure their temperature. Passenger spaces must be kept clean and germ free. Hand washing or hand sanitizer should be ensured at bus stops and railway stations. Passenger waiting areas, bus compartments, and other areas must be kept clean. Passengers should be informed of the use of masks and hand gloves, and seat covers should be washed, cleaned and disinfected regularly. Passengers should be advised to purchase tickets online. Passengers must be informed to maintain physical distance when getting on and off public transport. Drivers-workers of public transport and all those involved in transport must guarantee the use of masks, hand gloves, PPE. Awareness speeches must be given through audio, video, and posters through newspapers, television, and social networks so that passengers are aware of their health. Control of passengers and reasonable passenger seating must be provided by reasonably limiting carrying capacity. Ferry or naval terminals and vessels must be kept clean and sterile.
