A court in Noakhali has sent two members, including UP member Sohag, and a court in Delwar in Narayanganj.

Narayanganj PP Wazed Ali Khokon said Delwar was brought before the court of Narayanganj Chief Judge Fahmida Khatun and asked for a three-day pre-trial detention. After the hearing, the judge granted two days.

The Noakhali court granted the request for pretrial detention of a defendant named UP members Sohag and Badal.

Noakhali OC Harunur Rashid Chowdhury Begumganj Police Station said Sohag and Badal were brought before Noakhali Chief Judge Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon. Police detained Badal for 20 days for questioning in two cases and Sohag for seven days. Following the afternoon hearing, Judge Masfiqul Haque detained Badal for seven days and Sohag for three days in two cases.

Meanwhile, RAB 11 DAD Abdul Bashed filed a case against Delwar at the Siddhirganj police station on Monday night, OC Kamrul Farooq said.

A month after a woman was stripped and tortured in Noakhali’s Begumganj upazila, police launched an arrest operation on Sunday after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The victim filed two cases with the Begumganj police station on Sunday evening under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act and the Pornography Control Act.

In both cases, seven or eight unidentified people were named as defendants.

The defendants are- Badal, Md. Rahim, Abul Kalam, Israfil Hossain, Saju, Samsuddin Sumon, Abdur Rob, Arif and Rahmat Ullah. They all live in Begumganj.

A total of six people have been arrested in the incident, said Begumganj OC Kamrul Farooq Police Station.
