Deen Islam killed his brother-in-law and nephew alone in a land dispute in Katiadi of Kishoreganj and buried the bodies of three people in a hole in the courtyard of his house.

According to the police and local sources, a day after the disappearance, the police recovered the bodies of the parents and the child from the side of the house. At that time, four people, including the younger brother of the late Deen Islam, were arrested.

The deceased were identified as Asad Mia, 55, his wife Parveen Akhter, 42, and their son Leon, 7.

During questioning, Deen Islam told police that he had killed three people only because of family and land disputes. After killing his older brother Asad with a shovel in his sleep around 1 am on the day of the incident, Bhabi killed Parveen Akhter and his nephew Leon. Later, he dug a hole next to the house and buried his brother Asad first, then his sister-in-law and nephew.

Although he admitted that he was solely to blame for the brutal incident, the police have continued to question and interrogate others for the sake of further investigation.

A three-member team led by Dr. Rakib Ashkari performed the autopsy at the Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital morgue on Friday. After the autopsy, Tofazzal Hossain, the eldest son of the deceased, took the body home and said he would present a case after the funeral prayers and burial.

Kishoreganj Police Superintendent Md Mashrukur Rahman Khaled told reporters that, seeing the nature of the incident, it appears that the incident took place due to a previous family dispute. Asad’s brother, Deen Islam, two Nazma sisters, Taslima, and Taslima’s husband, Fazlu Mia, were arrested in the incident. Assad’s mother has also been detained by the police for questioning. The Police Superintendent expressed hope that the murder mystery will be solved as soon as possible.

Katiadi OC MA Jalil model police station said the body was sent to the Kishoreganj 250-bed General Hospital morgue for autopsy. No written complaint has yet been filed in this regard.

It is worth mentioning that a day after the disappearance of last Wednesday, the police recovered the bodies of the parents and the son by excavating the dirt from the side of their house in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj. Their bodies were recovered from a bamboo bush near their home in the Jamshait Kandapara village of the Banagram Upazila union around 10:30 pm Thursday.
