Dhaka: The court has placed Fatema Akhter Suma in pretrial detention for two days for allegedly cutting off her brother-in-law’s penis.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan issued the remand order on Wednesday (December 23).
Shahbagh Police Station, SI Amal Krishna Dey, sent Fatima to court for seven days. The attorneys for the defendants Ilias Uddin Mridha and Saiful Islam Rony canceled their pre-trial detention and requested bail. After the hearing, the judge rejected the request for bail and granted a two-day preventive detention to the accused.

The accused cut off the head of his penis with the intention of killing his brother-in-law while he was unconscious.
When Samiul regained consciousness after two hours, he saw his entire body covered in blood. At that time, the defendant insulted him in vulgar language. Showing the severed part of the penis, he said, I have satisfied the taste of his marriage. The defendant asked to keep the matter secret. Later, the defendant himself took Samiul to the National Hospital in an autorickshaw with the help of 2/3 unidentified people stationed outside the hotel. But since there was no treatment, he was taken to Mitford Hospital. He was admitted to Al Manar Hospital around 5 in the afternoon because he did not receive any treatment there. The victim is still being treated there.
About a month and a half after the incident, on December 22, Samiul’s older brother filed a case with the Shahbagh Police Station alleging attempted murder. After filing the case, the police arrested Bhabi Fatema Akhter Suma from the Paschimadi Shampur area below the South Keraniganj Police Station.
