A newly married young man named Swapan (22) died mysteriously at Kabiraj’s home in Durgapur, Rajshahi, while receiving treatment for a sexually transmitted disease. The incident took place at the home of a so-called Kabiraj Nasir Ali in Bajukhalashi village in the Hat Kanpara area of upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
However, the incident has created controversy over whether it was a murder or a suicide. An autopsy was completed on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Swapan, son of Shafiqul Islam of Dasgram in Baraigram upazila of Natore.
The so-called Kabiraj Nasir Ali said that Swapan came for treatment for sexual problems on November 8. I was looking for Swapan for lunch on Wednesday. Around 4 p.m., he saw Swapan hanging in a room in the house with a rope around his neck. Later, when he reported the incident to local UP President Shamser Ali, he informed the police.
According to the deceased’s relatives, Swapan went to Kabiraj’s home with his wife for treatment about a month and a half ago. About a month later, he returned home from the so-called Kabiraj home with treatment. Then on November 8, Swapan went to Nasir’s home again for treatment alone. The so-called Kabiraj Nasir has taken large sums of money from Swapan in the name of medical treatment. They said Nasir Uddin was again demanding a large sum of money from him.
Several Kabiraj neighbors said, on condition of anonymity, that Nasir had an argument with the young man after he repeatedly demanded money even though he had promised to give him free treatment. They think Nasir is trying to control the incident by committing suicide by suffocating Swapan by tying a rope around his neck. A proper investigation will reveal the real information.
Earlier, they said that several patients had died at Nasir’s home to receive treatment.
Baraigram Police Inspector (investigation) Abdur Rahim said: “We don’t know anything about this.” Since the incident took place in Durgapur, relatives of the deceased can complain there.
Durgapur Police Station OC Khurshid Banu Kana said the autopsy had been completed. The necessary legal action will be taken if the relatives of the deceased file a written complaint about it.
