Netrokona: A nephew has been accused of taking other benefits, including allowances and bonuses, on the false identity of the son of the late freedom fighter in Madan upazila of Netrokona.

A heroic freedom fighter has filed a written complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Netrokona and Officer Madan Upazila Nirbahi (UN).

It is clear from the complaint that Zahirul Hossain Chowdhury alias Matin Chowdhury from Jungle Demargati village of Maghan union of Madan upazila was a heroic freedom fighter (Gazette No. 2414), Muktibarta No. 0116090326. He died single. But in the conspiracy of former Upazila commander Muktijoddha Sangsad, some local freedom fighters, and then-Maghan Union president Habibur Rahman Hubur, a false birth registration was made by identifying Tania Sharmin Tanvi, daughter of Zahirul’s younger brother. , Milon Chowdhury, as Tania, daughter of Zahirul Hossain Chowdhury. Based on that registration, the administration allowed Tania in 2013 to open a new bank account without any investigation. From then until September of this year, Tania has enjoyed various benefits, including the monthly allowance, the festival allowance, and the false pretense bonus. Which is completely against the freedom fighters’ pet law.

Former Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad commander Bir Muktijoddha Hadis Uddin Dulal and former Vice President Bir Muktijoddha Arshuzzaman Khan said that this fraud was carried out with the collusion of some freedom fighters, the local UP president and some officials at the time. We know Zahirul Hossain Chowdhury personally. He was a heroic fighter for freedom and Chirkumar. But when Chirkumar was supposed to close his bank account after the death of this freedom fighter, he resorted to tricking his niece into pretending to be a girl for other benefits, such as allowances and bonuses, and he constantly receives various benefits, including the withdrawal of assignments.

Habibur Rahman Hobu, former president of the Maghan Union, who provided the birth record, said: “Zahirul Hossain Chowdhury was Chirkumar, but I did not know.” This family is an established family in the area. I found out a few days after registration that family members had registered with me as liars.

Defendant Tania Sharmin Tanvir’s father, Milon Chowdhury, said: “My brother Zahirul Hossain Chowdhury was not married.” When he wanted to know about the withdrawal of the allowance, he cut off his mobile phone. After repeated attempts, the connection was not found.

Shahjaman Ahmed, Upazila social services officer, said: “An executive officer has given me the responsibility to investigate the matter.”

Upazila Freedom Fighter Commander and UNO Bulbul Ahmed said: “I have received a written complaint in this regard.” A letter has been sent to the bank to stop the assignment. The matter is under investigation.
