The body of retired Major General Chittaranjan Dutt (CR Dutt) will arrive in the country from the United States on Monday morning.
The Emirates Sky Cargo departed for Dubai with its coffin at 7pm local time in Florida on Saturday. She is scheduled to board a connecting flight from there.
CR Dutt’s youngest son-in-law, Pradeep Dasgupta, confirmed the matter to the media.
CR Dutt died in a Florida hospital on the night of August 24. She was 93 years old.
After CR Dutt’s coffin arrives at Shahjalal Airport in Dhaka, it will be greeted with state honors.
Meanwhile, a National Citizens Committee has been formed to pay its last respects to CR Dutt. The 1001-member committee has been formed with former army chief, Major General (retired) KM Shafiullah, one of the liberation war sector commanders, as convener and eminent journalist-intellectual Shahriar Kabir as member secretary.
According to the committee, CR Dutt’s body will be brought into the country from Florida, US By bringing him into the country, the necessary preparations for his funeral are being made with the highest military honors and due state honors.
