Sinha’s sister, Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, filed a case against nine people in Cox’s Bazar Magistrates Court on August 5.
The defendants in the case, including Baharchhara Investigation Center Inspector Liakat Ali and Teknaf Police Station OC Pradeep Kumar Das, subsequently surrendered to court. They were also suspended from their jobs.
At the time, there were lawsuits from various quarters to take action against the Cox’s Bazar Police Superintendent. Leaders of Rawa, an organization of retired army officers, demanded the removal of the police superintendent for the sake of a proper investigation of the killings.
Retired Major Sinha was shot dead by police at a checkpoint in Cox’s Bazar. A mourning book has been opened in Rashed Khan’s Uttara home.
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) ordered the suspension of the bank accounts of eight people, including SP ABM Masud Hossain and OC Pradeep Kumar Das, on August 18.
His sister had also asked the court to press charges against the Cox’s Bazar police superintendent in the case of Sinha’s murder, but the judge dismissed it.
On Wednesday, the Interior Ministry transferred ABM Police Superintendent Masud Hossain and six other senior police officials.
In the circular issued by the Department of Public Security, Khulna Police Commissioner Khandaker Lutful Kabir was sent to Gazipur with the same responsibility.
SB Deputy Inspector General (DIG) said. Masudur Rahman Bhunya has been appointed as Khulna Police Commissioner.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Muntasirul Islam has been appointed Superintendent of Police in Jhenaidah District.
And the Rajshahi District Police Superintendent. Shahidullah has been transferred to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
