It is also recommended that passengers from any country in the world, not just the UK, be placed in official 14-day quarantine.
This was reported in the press release sent to the media after the 25th meeting of the commission on Monday.
In this virtual meeting, the president of the National Technical Advisory Committee Kovid-25, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sahidullah presided.
According to the press release, the Kovid-19 infection rate is decreasing. In this case, it is necessary to increase the sample test.
“To diagnose asymptomatic infections in particular, people at risk of infection should be tested. Currently, a fee of Rs 100 is charged for the examination at the examination center. To get the public interested in taking the test, it is recommended to reduce the exam fee to Rs 100 and do it for free. “
Following the outbreak of the new coronavirus in the country, the government was testing free samples in March last year.
But as the number of patients continues to rise, the fee for the sample test was set on June 29. At that time, the government set a fee of Tk 200 for going to the hospital and analyzing the sample and Tk 500 for bringing the sample from home.
Then on August 19, the official fee for the coronavirus sample test was Rs 100 instead of Rs 200 and after collecting samples at home, the test fee was set at Rs 300 instead of Rs 500 . This rate is still ongoing.
The statement said the committee was satisfied with the government’s agreement to keep returning passengers in formal quarantine for 14 days from the start. However, the committee has recommended that the decision to remain in quarantine for four days instead of 14 days be reconsidered.
The committee says that the latency of this disease is 14 days. They run the risk of becoming infected anytime within 14 days and spreading the infection through them.
“The National Advisory Committee considers that it is necessary to reconsider this decision.”
As the new strain of coronavirus has spread to other countries, the committee believes that passengers from all countries should remain in formal quarantine for 14 days.
On January 1, when a new strain of coronavirus was identified in the UK, the government made a 14-day institutional quarantine mandatory for people in that country.
However, on January 13, the rule was relaxed and the quarantine period was shortened to 10 days.
