Across Europe, coronavirus infections are on the rise again. There are also fears that the situation will spiral out of control during the coming winter.

Therefore, most countries in Europe are gradually imposing strict restrictions on infection control.

In Spain, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced that the night curfew will come into force on Sunday. The curfew will be in effect from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

He also said that due to the state of emergency, the local administration could impose a travel ban from one area to another.

Although the state of emergency and curfew have been imposed for 15 days, the Prime Minister said she would seek Parliament’s approval to extend it to six months.

Spain was one of the worst affected countries in Europe in the first wave of the Covid-19 epidemic earlier this year. Spain had to impose a severe blockade of services to control the infection.

In a televised speech on Sunday, Prime Minister Sánchez said: “The situation is deteriorating. It is the worst case in half a century.”

However, for the first time, the central government is not issuing a nationwide blockade. For the time being, the local government will decide on the movement of people from one area to another.

There is also the opportunity to increase or decrease the curfew by one hour during the night curfew.

In addition to the state of emergency and curfew, a maximum of six people from different households can gather outside the house for a private meeting or gathering.

More than 1 million people in Spain have been infected with Covid-19 so far. More than 35,000 people died.
