The court order came in the presence of the plaintiff at the bail request hearing for the convicted defendant.

The defendant and the plaintiff in this case are cousins, their home is in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi.

According to sources in the case, the accused had sexual relations with the girl in 2011 by promising to marry her. He denied the promise of marriage when the girl became pregnant.

Although the arbitration was initiated by the girl’s family, it was not resolved and the girl filed a rape complaint on October 25 of that year.

Charges were brought against the defendants in the case on January 29, 2012 at the Court for the Suppression of Abuse of Women and Children in Rajshahi.

The court delivered its verdict on June 12 of that year. The convict was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined 50,000 taka.

According to the verdict, the girl was 14 years old when she was raped.

The defendant, who has been in jail since the 2012 verdict, recently requested bail in Superior Court.

At the appeal hearing on Thursday, his attorney SM Shahed Chowdhury said: “The victim is here (in court). They agreed to marry. If they get bail, they will marry. “

The court then ordered the superintendent of the prison to arrange Karafat’s marriage without granting the defendant bail.
