However, department officials said it has not yet been finalized when the SMS will be sent.

The Director of the Management Information Center (MIS) of the Department of Health and the Line Director of HIS and e-Health, Prof. Dr. Mizanur Rahman told bdnews24.com that those who took the first dose on January 26 would take the second dose on March 26. And for those who received the first vaccine on February 8, there are plans to give the second dose on April 8.

“The SMS will be sent on time indicating the date and time. No specific date has been set for this. However, the SMS will go out before the scheduled vaccination time. The government has enough vaccines, there is nothing to worry about to get vaccinated ”.

The long-awaited vaccination campaign in Bangladesh began on January 26 by vaccinating a nurse at the Kurmitola General Hospital with coronavirus. The next day, health workers at five hospitals in Dhaka received the vaccine on an experimental basis. As there were no complications, on February 8 mass vaccination began throughout the country.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India is being administered in Bangladesh. So far, 39 lakh 7500 people across the country have taken the first dose of the vaccine. 51 lakh 36,474 people have registered for vaccination.

It was decided at the beginning of the mass vaccination, the second dose would be administered one month later. For those who have been vaccinated since February 8, the vaccine card was issued a month later for the second dose.

But the National Technical Advisory Committee recommends changes to the plan based on information that increases effectiveness if the gap between the two doses of the vaccine increases.

Director General of the Department of Health, Prof. ABM Khurshid Alam said on February 15 that the second dose would be administered in Bangladesh in two months.

From then on, those taking the first dose of the vaccine will receive the second dose two months later. But those who got the date a month later for the second dose of the vaccine at first were confused when the time came and didn’t receive any SMS of the new date.

Line Director of the MNC & AH Operational Plan of the Department of Health. Maryland. Shamsul Haque told bdnews24.com on Monday that talks were underway with the ICT department to decide how to send the SMS for the second dose.

“We have a meeting with the ICT, the matter will be settled there. We will tell everyone how to do it, what will be the modality ”.

Shamsul Haque said that the interval between the two doses would be two months. Vaccination cannot be taken before two months. However, if someone wants, they can take it after a few days. Think that whoever has the vaccination date on the 7th, may have a fever that day, in which case they can take it later ”.
