Interpol warned that counterfeit corona vaccines could be sold on the market or could steal the original vaccine. The France-based international police agency issued the warning in a message posted on its website on Wednesday.
Interpol is the coordinating body between the different police forces of the world. The agency’s warning message said police in 194 member states had received an orange alert. That said, an organized cycle could attempt to sell counterfeit vaccines on the market and online.
The warning further said that due to the epidemic, many ‘opportunistic and criminal’ behaviors have already become visible. Crime has also increased. And behind all this is the preparation of a fake corona vaccine and the risk of stealing the real vaccine.
Interpol said closer coordination was needed between health regulators and law enforcement agencies. As the process for approval and delivery of the corona vaccine to the public nears, the need to secure vaccine supplies becomes more acute. In addition, the use of illegal websites in the sale of vaccines must be identified.
