Controversial ‘virginity’ business in British clinics

The controversial ‘virginity test’ of women is being carried out in various clinics in Britain. Experts on returning virginity to those who do not have the alleged virginity say the test is unscientific and cannot confirm whether a girl is a virgin. This test can also be used as a torture tool. The BBC has published a special investigation report.

The report claims that conducting such tests on women’s bodies is a violation of human rights and the World Health Organization and the United Nations have called for the testing system to be ended.

Last year, the American rap artist admitted that she had her daughter undergo a virginity test every year to see if her hymen was intact. His confession caused much controversy and reactions.

The way virginity is negotiated

Examine the vagina to see if the woman’s hymen or the delicate membrane of the vagina is intact.

Journalists from the BBC’s 100 Women and Newsbeat division have discovered that several private clinics in Britain are involved in the business. They advertise to ‘restore virginity’ and when contacted they say the so-called virginity test will cost between থেকে 150 and ৩ 300.

Last year, a comment by American rap artist TI caused a lot of controversy when he said that he checks every year to see if his daughter Hymen is intact.

The BBC identified 21 such clinics. Of these, 18 clinics were contacted by BBC journalists, seven of whom confirmed that they had “virginity tests.” They did not clearly explain what the others did.

However, each medical center said they would perform surgery to repair the torn hymen, which would cost between £ 1,500 and £ 3,000. According to the NHS England, the UK’s national health system, 69 hymen repair surgeries have been performed in the last five years.

Repair torn hymen

The World Health Organization (WHO) says virginity tests are being carried out for girls in at least 20 countries around the world. Hu says there is no scientific evidence that a girl can have sex with this test. This is because the hymen-like membrane called the hymen can rupture for a number of reasons. Tampons can be used to tear and can be torn while playing sports.

Forceps (tweezers) method with fake blood

Hymen repair materials are sold online for £ 50, according to the report. It is claimed that it can repair torn hymen and restore virginity.

One of those teams sold for 104 pounds in Germany. These include a 60 ml gel for vaginal tightening, a plastic bath, a capsule filled with blood, and three sachets that appear to contain fake blood. But there are no instructions on how to use these materials in the kit.
