The Shanghai cooperation meeting has been held in Moscow in recent weeks. Where India, Pakistan, China are represented. National security advisers from India and Pakistan met virtually at that meeting on Tuesday.

The Pakistani security adviser reportedly produced a controversial map of Pakistan there. India’s security adviser Ajit Doval was furious. Doval left the meeting, protesting against Russia, which is chairing the meeting.

On June 4, the Prime Minister of Pakistan published a new map. There, it is claimed that Kashmir, part of Ladakh and part of Gujarat belong to Pakistan. After Imran published the map, India voiced its extreme objection.

In fact, Pakistan has not commented on the map since. Pakistan has used that map again at the current meeting in Moscow. The controversial map caught the attention of India shortly after the meeting began. India immediately raised its objections.

According to India, Pakistan has not complied with the notice issued by Russia for the meeting. They have brought up controversial map meetings for their own propaganda. Doval left the meeting in protest of all the objections to Russia.

Anurag Srivastava, a spokesman for the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement shortly after the incident: For the past few days, Pakistan has been trying to propagandize with that map. Pakistan has acted in accordance with the advisory and meeting standards issued by Russia.

Another statement later said that Pakistan had made misleading statements about the meeting.

Before Pakistan, Nepal showed three areas of India on its map. Nepalese Prime Minister Oli had a dispute with India over this. However, after the Prime Minister of Pakistan presented the new map, many experts thought the controversy would go a long way.

Tuesday’s incident showed that Pakistan will not stray from the new map. It is also clear that India will continue to respond. Most experts believe that this has added a new dimension to the debate between India and Pakistan.

There is already a lot of tension on the India-Pakistan and Indochina borders. The debate over the map is also expected to provoke further tensions. Deutsche Welle
