He made the remarks at a press conference after a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday.

The planning minister said during the meeting that the prime minister had instructed not to build unnecessary roads when approving a road development project.

“She (Sheikh Hasina) has said that the mentality of building or widening unnecessary roads in front of one’s house should be eliminated.”

The planning minister also said that the prime minister emphasized renovating existing roads rather than new ones to protect agricultural land.

“The current government has promised to install a technical school in each upazila,” he added. The project to establish technical training centers in 40 upazilas is being approved to fulfill that promise ”.

The minister said that the technical training center will also provide training and incentives to unemployed returnees so that they can return abroad and earn more.

Responding to a question, the minister said: “Approving the project does not mean spending money. We are monitoring the ongoing project and will intensify it in the future ”.
