Confessions of all defendants except OC Pradeep in the Sinha murder case

Twelve of the 13 defendants in the murder case of retired army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan have made confessional statements under Section 164 in court. Only the dismissed Officer-in-Charge (CO) from Teknaf Police Station, Pradeep Kumar Das, did not give a statement in the case.

The four defendants in the case, Assistant Deputy Inspector of Police (ASI) Liton Mia, officers Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun, were presented before the Cox’s Bazar Superior Court of Judicial Magistrates around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Later, Officers Safanur Karim and Kamal Hossain testified in the Superior Magistrate Chamber Mohammad Delwar Hossain, and ASI Liton Mia and Officer Abdullah Al Mamun Tamanna testified in Farah’s room. His statement ended around 5:30 pm. They were later imprisoned

Earlier in the morning, they were taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for a medical checkup.

RAB Deputy Superintendent of Police (ASP) Khairul Islam, who is investigating the case, said in a brief media briefing at the court premises after taking the statement: “Of the 13 defendants in the case of Sinha’s murder, 12 have testified under Section 164 in court. ” Only the second defendant, OC Pradeep, did not testify in court under article 164. This will not impede the investigation of the case.

In their confessional statement, the defendants described the incident in detail. Hopefully they have told the court what they have admitted to us, ‘added the investigator.

Earlier in the day, RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commander Major Mehedi Hasan said the court had granted a four-day pretrial detention in the second phase to further question four police officers charged in the case of Sinha’s assassination on August 24. Following the court order, the RAB began questioning four members of the police for the second time on 8 September. Today, after four days in preventive detention, they have been taken to court to make a confessional statement.

Previously, Teknaf Police Officer-in-Charge (CO) Pradeep Kumar Das, Baharchhara Police Investigation Center Inspector Liakat Ali, and Teknaf Police Deputy Inspector (SI) Nanda Dulal, who were fired in the case of the Sinha’s murder, they were sent to remand for questioning.

Although Liaquat and Nandadulal made confessional statements under section 164, Pradeep disagreed. Now they are all in jail. Furthermore, eight defendants, including three members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBN), have so far made confessional statements in the Sinha murder case.

Retired commander Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was shot dead by police at the Shamlapur checkpoint in the Baharchhara Union of Teknaf on the night of July 31. Following the incident, the police filed two cases at Teknaf Police Station and one at Ramu Police Station. Sinha’s sister later filed a murder case in a Cox’s Bazar court, charging nine police officers.
