Sherpur: A woman has filed a case against an SI police officer named Sabur Uddin in the Sherpur Abuse of Women and Children Suppression Court alleging rape.
The case was closed on Thursday (October 15).
Subsequently, Judge Akhtaruzzaman of the Court for the Suppression of Abuse of Women and Children ordered the PBI to investigate the matter and take action.
The defendant Sabur Uddin works as a Deputy Inspector (SI) of the Nakla Police Station in Sherpur District. He is the son of Abdul Hai, a resident of the Purbadhala Shyamganj Uttar Bazar area of the Netrokona district.
Muklesur Rahman Akand, attorney for the plaintiff in the case, said Sabur Uddin, a deputy inspector working at the Nalitabari Police Station, was the investigating officer in a 2016 indecency case by the woman. Due to the investigation of the case, it was developed a close relationship between the two. At one stage, the marriage with the applicant’s husband was dissolved. The accused police officer later said that the marriage was consummated by writing on blue paper with two strangers who promised to marry the woman. Then, from November 15, 2019, they rented a house in the home of a local Kalim Uddin adjacent to the North Garkanda Anshar camp in Nalitabari Township. Later, when Sabur was transferred to the Nakla Police Station, the applicant went to the Nakla Police Station on the 1st of this month and demanded maintenance, saying that Sabur did not marry the woman. The victim claims that Sabur raped her under the pretext of cheating.
Syed Moinul Hossain, Acting Inspector (Administrator) of PBI (Jamalpur-Sherpur) said he has not received the document yet. Action will be taken when the document is received.
