The police arrested a businessman named Sadhan Sarkar (24) in a case of raping a university student by breaking the door of a house in Dhunat Upazila, in Bogra. Sadhan Sarkar is the son of Nipendra Nath Sarkar of Penchibari village in the Chowkibari union of the Upazila.
He was arrested at his home in a raid last Wednesday night. He was sent to the Bogra District Jail from the Dhunat Police Station on Friday morning.
According to the case, Sadhan Sarkar is a hotelier from Penchibari Bazar. The rape victim used to go to the university next to the hotel. On this occasion, the businessman used to mock the university student by offering him love. About a year ago, Sadhan Sarkar invited the college student to his home to propose to her parents. At that time, when the family members were not at home, Sadhan took the university student inside the house and tried to rape her. Sadhan Sarkar threatened the university student for not revealing the matter. Later, around 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sadhan Sarkar broke the door of the college student’s home and raped her. At that time, Sadhan Sarkar was arrested with the help of relatives and villagers. After receiving the news, the police arrested Sadhan Sarkar at the scene around noon on Thursday. The college student’s father filed a case against Sadhan Sarkar last night.
Dhunat Kripa Sindhu Bala’s Police Officer in Charge (CO) said Sadhan Sarkar had been arrested and sent to jail in a case brought against him for allegedly raping a university student. The college student has been sent to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for a physical examination.
