An unidentified half-dead body was recovered from Merul Badda at Hatirjheel Lake on Monday morning. The body was handcuffed and wrapped in a sheet, mosquito net and polyethylene.

Assistant Deputy Commissioner Hafeez said 24-year-old Mehdi, the only child of an American immigrant father, lives in the village of Baunia in Sandwip. He lived with his mother in the Feroz Shah area of ​​Chittagong for several years. Mehdi, a master’s student at Chittagong International University, wanted to go to Canada after finishing her studies.

He said that Ahsan had been in Malaysia for some time outside the country. Back in the country last year, he got a job at a restaurant called ‘The Grove’ in Gulshan with a salary of Tk 75,000. But as soon as he started working, the epidemic started and the restaurant closed, leading to a financial crisis.

Later he borrowed some money from his wife’s relative, Alauddin. Alauddin asked Ahsan to bring the name and age correction from the passport without borrowing money. Later, Ahsan called his friend Mehdi and asked him to give him a passport if there was work. Mehdi arrived at Ahsan in Dhaka on August 12 to correct the names and age of the three passports. Later, Ahsan went to Alauddin with his friend Mehdi.

“Mehdi gave them 2 lakh 70 lakhs for this job. But Mehedi wants her passport and money back as she didn’t deliver the passport on time. But they just want time. At one point, Mehdi threatened to sue the restaurant owner. if he did not return his passport and money ”.

The police officer said Ahsan and Alauddin planned to kill him. Ahsan asked Mehdi to go to Dhaka on October 10 and told him that he would give her a passport as planned. That night, Mehedi arrived in Dhaka and went to her rented house in Khilkhet Uttar Para.

“That night, he mixed sleeping pills with Mehdi’s food and let her eat. When he fell asleep, Ahsan killed him by strangling him only at one thirty at night.

“After killing him, while wrapping the sheets and mosquito nets, an employee of the same restaurant saw Tamim, the tenant in the next room. At one point, Ahsan asked Tamim for help in hiding the body. The driver refused to carry the merchandise even though he rented a car for the night. Later, they left the body under the bed ”.

He said that Ahsan had called in Alauddin, who was in Sylhet at the time, to kill him. Unable to remove the body, they asked Alauddin for help the following night. Alauddin sent his acquaintance Rahim on a minibus.

Later, around one o’clock in the evening, they took the body wrapped in sheets, mosquito nets and polyethylene in a minibus and headed to Sayedabad. Tamim came down the road. Later Ahsan came to Hatirjheel with the body and left it in a secluded place. “

Police also seized three passports and a minibus used to transport the bodies.

Police officer Hafeez said four people were brought to court on Wednesday after being arrested in a murder case filed at the Hatirjheel police station.

Defendant Ahsan has made a confessional statement in a wise court under article 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Alauddin, Tamim and Rahim have been in pre-trial detention for two days. “
