In Gopalpur of Tangail, a university student was allegedly gang-raped overnight. The incident took place in the Kagujiata village of upazila on Monday night. Later, the looters left the girl on the river bank.
The student is in treatment at the Tangail General Hospital. The hospital’s medical officer, Dr. Kamruzzaman, said there were signs of injuries to various parts of his body. He also said that there are signs of rape in that college student.
The victim said that on her way home from the local market in the Nuturchar area of upazila on Monday evening, she came to a bridge in the Purba Mohanpur and Nutur Char areas of Mirzapur Union and was detained by Saiful, Enamul, Khaled, Jalal and Altaf from the nearby village of Kaguji Ata. He was forcibly picked up and taken to an abandoned house in Char. Later, they raped her during the night and left her on the river bank in the morning.
When the girl returned home in critical condition and informed her family, her relatives took her to Tangail General Hospital and admitted her. The student has demanded exemplary punishment for the rapists in this incident.
Gopalpur OC Mosharraf Hossain Police Station said it had heard about the matter. No one has complained about this yet.
