To prevent coronary heart disease, the government has banned immigrants from 20 countries, including their citizens, diplomats, healthcare workers and their families, from Asia, Europe and the United States.
The ban will go into effect on Wednesday (February 3) starting at 9pm local Saudi Arabia time. The country’s Interior Ministry issued an order on Tuesday.
The ministry said the decision was based on recommendations from the Saudi health authorities.
The list of sanctioned countries includes Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, the United States, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Pakistan, Brazil, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Turkey, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Lebanon, Egypt, India and Japan. .
Earlier, on January 3, the country lifted the travel ban to Saudi Arabia and announced the launch of all types of flights.
Saudi Arabia has decided to abruptly suspend international flights on December 21 following a new coronavirus outbreak in the UK. It was later extended for another seven days. Saudi Arabia lifted the ban 15 days later.
