Chinese Friendship Bridge technician stabbed to death by scoundrel

The chief technician working on the eighth Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge (Bekutia Bridge) under construction in Pirojpur, 58-year-old Mr. Laofan, was stabbed to death by criminals.

He was stabbed by criminals in the Kumirmara area near the Bekutia Bridge in Pirojpur Sadar Upazila on Wednesday night. He was rushed to Pirojpur District Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Pirojpur District Hospital Residential Medical Officer (RMO) said. Nizam Uddin has confirmed the death of the Chinese citizen. He said they took him to the hospital in a coma. He died of excessive bleeding.
Mollah Azad Hossain, Acting Police Superintendent, said police went to the hospital and the scene after receiving information about the incident. The police are carrying out an operation to arrest those involved in the attack.

The executive engineer of the Pirojpur Roads and Expressways Department, Masud Mahmud Sumon, said, at the time of the incident. Laofa would cycle to the bridge site to pay workers at the Chinese officials’ residential barracks adjacent to the bridge under construction. Police raided the area at night and arrested two people from the Kumirmara area in connection with the attack. The police do not want to release their names to journalists at this time.

Deputy Commissioner Abu Ali received the news. Sajjad Hossain and Acting Police Superintendent Mollah Azad Hossain rushed to the hospital.
