The Chinese Embassy apologized for sending gifts to BNP President Khaleda Zia on her birthday.

Sources said that when the Foreign Ministry raised the issue in front of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, they expressed regret over the incident.

The Chinese embassy in Dhaka told the Foreign Ministry that, in accordance with the country’s national policy, they send birthday gifts to opposition leaders and leaders from friendly countries. They do it every year. Today it has become a custom for them. That’s why they send gifts every year on the birthday of the BNP president. But the Chinese embassy did not know that there was controversy over his birthday.

The Chinese embassy in Dhaka told the Foreign Ministry that it was wrong for them to send gifts on Khaleda Zia’s birthday. They did not understand before that the matter is delicate. They have promised Dhaka that this mistake will never happen again.

On August 15, 1975, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of Bangladesh’s independence, was assassinated by a group of misguided army members with his family. For this reason, on August 15, the National Day of Mourning is celebrated with due respect and dignity. But on this day Begum Khaleda Zia celebrates her birthday. The Awami League claims that this is not Khaleda Zia’s real birthday.
