The visit of Chinese Defense Minister and State Councilor Wei Feng to Dhaka was postponed at the last minute. He was scheduled to arrive in Dhaka tomorrow on December 1. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving office.

Wei Feng is currently in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, for a visit. From there he would come to Bangladesh and Pakistan as his next destination. On Sunday he had a meeting with the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Nepal, KP Sharma Oli. Wei Fengi also paid a courtesy visit to the President of Nepal, Vidya Devi.

On the other hand, Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Sringla returned home on Friday after a two-day visit to Nepal. After that, the Chinese defense minister is visiting the country. Which has sparked new talks amid continuing tensions between China and India. Analysts believe that India may be behind the cancellation of Wei Fengi’s visit to Bangladesh.

Due to continued border tensions between China and India in recent months, the importance of Nepal and Bangladesh to both countries has multiplied. And China’s friendship with Pakistan is quite old. Still, the visit of the Chinese Defense Minister was being taken very seriously.
