The New York Times reports that Beijing-based Synovac Biotech is conducting a Corona Ticker clinical trial in Bangladesh. The corona vaccine trial is being carried out on 4,200 people in the capital, Dhaka. And ICDDR, B is cooperating with China in this test.
John D. Clemens, CEO of the company, said the Chinese company Synovac agreed to provide 110,000 doses of the vaccine to Bangladesh at no cost.
According to the report, this figure is very insignificant in a country of 160 million inhabitants. Even after participating in the vaccination trial, Bangladeshis fear that they will have to pay a price to ensure that everyone in the country is vaccinated.
Professor of Pharmacology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. Sayedur Rahman said that if anyone in the world were deprived of the corona vaccine because of patent rights and benefits, it would be the greatest injustice of this century.
The New York Times reports that China seeks to increase friendship through vaccines from Asia to Africa. The Philippines will be vaccinated quickly and China will lend a billion pounds to Latin America and the Caribbean to buy krona.
The report further states that India is skeptical of China’s trend in South Asia. They promised to provide vaccines to Bangladesh and Nepal.
However, China’s Foreign Ministry said that China would not monopolize the supply of vaccines. They also denied using the vaccine as a diplomatic weapon.
