The wedding ceremony was taking place at the groom’s house for fear of trouble in the bride’s house. Upon receiving the news, a mobile court with law enforcement officers suddenly appeared at the groom’s home.
The mobile court stopped the child marriage and fined the groom and the bride’s father 5,000 taka. At the same time, he gave him a bond not to marry the girl until she is an adult. The girl is a ninth grade student (14) from a local school. The girl he was supposed to marry is a weaver by profession (23).
