The imam was upset and obstructed by League leader Upazila Chhatra for discussing idols and sculptures in Waz and Khutba before Friday prayers in Moulvibazar. In that incident, there was a fight between the BCL leaders and the worshipers. Cases were even brought against the imam and the worshiper. As time passes after this incident, it is becoming increasingly popular with the local population. Such activities by the BCL leader have caused backlash from devotees across the upazila, including their own areas. Inside the mosque, the leader argues with the leader about religious issues and condemns and protests against such provocative activities. It is known that last Friday, the Imam of the Western Bachirpur Mosque Jame Maulana Mohammad. Mamunul Haque spoke about idols and sculptures in waz and khutbah before Friday prayers. During the discussion, the general secretary of the Upazila Chhatra League, Iqbal Bhuiyan, interrupted the Imam’s words. Excited, he launched the challenge. Said, statues and sculptures are not one. And the Imam has to explain to him that the sculpture and the idol are one. In response to his question, the imam of the mosque asked him to remain calm and at the end of the prayer he would explain the matter in more detail based on the Qur’an and the Hadith. But even then, the leader of the Upazila Chhatra League was not calming down. Suddenly, the worshipers were agitated by his question and got into a discussion with the Imam. The imam of the mosque explained the incident in various ways, calming everyone down and offering prayers. After the prayers, the BCL leaders and the faithful began to argue again. At one point there was tension and there were clashes between them. One of the faithful was also injured in the incident. Later, Iqbal Bhuiyan called the police and brought the police to the scene and filed a case charging 5 people, including the imam. Several local worshipers, who did not want to be identified, told the media that during the discussion at the mosque, Upazila Chhatra League general secretary Iqbal Imam spoke in obscene language. He even used abusive language. The faithful protested against his indecent behavior. They said the imam did not comment on the match or address anyone. He said that Iqbal Bhuiyan became emotional and started causing disturbances inside the mosque. His father Qayyum Bhuiyan also spoke to him in obscene language. Regarding the accusation, BCL General Secretary Iqbal Bhuiyan told the media that the current government was making idols of Bangabandhu at the expense of the poor. I protested his statement. At the end of the prayers, some people got into a fight with some of my younger brothers (Chhatra League workers). The officer in charge of the jury police station, Sanjay Chakraborty, told Manabzamin on his mobile phone that a case had been filed against five people, including the imam of the mosque. That day, there was a fight inside the mosque over what Imam Sahib was saying about Waz. Iqbal Bhuiyan, general secretary of the Upazila Chhatra League, presented a case accusing 5 people in the incident. The matter is being investigated.
