BCL leaders and activists have been accused of attacking a livestock officer for failing to get goats to eat from the Sylhet District Goat Development Farm.
The attack took place in the presence of lawyer Ranjit Sarkar, former secretary of youth and sports affairs for the Awami League in the Sylhet district, on Monday afternoon, said Aminul Islam, deputy director of the Sylhet division’s livestock office.
However, denying the allegations, Ranjit Sarkar said: “The beating in my presence is a lie. There have been incidents of fighting and fighting with some BCL workers. I am trying to resolve the misunderstanding between them.
Aminul Islam said: “If some BCL leaders and activists come to the livestock office at noon and want to bring a goat to the farm for breeding, we will not do it.” They are told that these goats are given to farmers for breeding purposes only, there is no opportunity to feed them. Then they misbehave with us.
“Later, after the arrival of the district’s Awami League leader Ranjit Sarkar, he and those BCL activists threatened and beat some district livestock officers at a stage of the discussion.”
The wounded officer was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for first aid.
He also said preparations are underway to present a case in consultation with the department and the ministry.
“We are working to secure the supply of dairy and meat products by keeping the office open despite the situation in the Corona epidemic,” the official said. Such use and attack is gross there.
In this regard, the officer in charge (OC) of the Shahparan Police Station, Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, said: “I have come to know that there have been incidents of fighting and fighting between some children and livestock officers.” If a complaint is filed, legal action will be taken.
