The names of two more selectors, including the head coach, were finalized on the day of the 69th general meeting of the Indian board in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Chetan has been joined by two other former fast bowlers Abe Kuruvilla and Debashis Mohanty.

This selection committee has been selected by the Cricket Advisory Committee of the Board of India. The committee, headed by former all-rounder Madan Lal, includes former pacemaker RP Singh and former women’s team goalkeeper Sulakshana Naik. The board has made the final decision based on their recommendations.

After thinking hard about the news from the Times of India, Chetan and Agarkar, the advisory committee finally elected Chetan.

Chetan will represent the north, Kuruvilla in the west and Mohanty in the east. Former left-armed player Sunil Joshi and former fast bowler Harbinder Singh are already on the committee to represent the South.

All four members of the five-member selection committee from India are now fast pitchers. A roulette.

Although the term of the committee is 3 years, the Cricket Advisory Committee will review its performance after 1 year.

In addition to Agarkar, former left-armed player Maninder Singh, former goalkeeper Nayan Mongia, former fast pitcher Randev Bose and former hitter Shivsundar Das have also applied for the position. They have to be disappointed this time.

Although Joshi, the previous committee’s head of selection, is still on the committee, Chetan has been appointed head of selection. The former fast bowler has taken 61 wickets in 23 tests. Took 5 wickets at Lord’s on the 1986 tour of England and 10 wickets in Birmingham. Took 6 plots at 75 ODI. He was the first bowler in the history of World Cup cricket to score a hat-trick (at the 1986 World Cup). There is also a century in ODI. After being promoted to batting order in Kanpur against England in 1989, he made an unbeaten 101 with 8 balls.

After becoming the head of selection, Chetan told PTI that he will prove his worth with his work.

“It is a great honor to have the opportunity to serve Indian cricket again. I am a man of few words, my work will be louder than words. Thanks to BCCI for giving me the opportunity.”

Some criteria are followed to select the selection committee of India. To get a place on the committee, you have to play at least 8 tests or 30 first-class matches or 10 ODI and 20 first-class matches. It must also be at least 5 years after retirement. The age cannot exceed 60 years.

The first challenge for the new selectors will be to select a team for the series against England in February. India will play 4 Tests, 5 Twenty20s and 3 ODIs against England at home.
