Dhaka: The police have brought an indictment against National Film Award winner music director Shawkat Ali Emon in a dowry torture case brought by his wife.
The charge sheet was filed on November 28 by Ramna Police Station Inspector Tahmina Akter.
On December 15, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khair signed Jesse “Dekhilam’s charge sheet.” At the same time, the case was transferred to Dhaka 6th Court for Suppression of Abuse of Women and Children for trial.

According to the charge sheet, Shawkat Ali Emon demanded 10 lakh rupees as a dowry from his wife Ridita Raza. When he refused to pay, Emon beat him and kicked him out of the house.
On September 20 last year, Shawkat Ali Emon’s wife, Ridita Reza, presented the case to the Ramna Police Station. Ramna police arrested Emon at his Eskaton home on the night of September 25. The next day he was sent to jail. Shawkat Ali Emon was released on bail after five days in jail. He is currently free on bail.
Shawkat Ali Emon married Ridita Reza, an announcer for a private television channel, on February 26 last year. This is your third marriage. The first wife is divorced from actress Bijri Barkatullah. Then on December 6, 2012, he married a dancer named Tithi Kabir.
His separation with Tithi also occurs. After the divorce, his ex-wife Tithi filed a case with the Ramna Police Station alleging threats and extortion for posting offensive images on the Internet. Shawkat Ali Emon was arrested in August 2014 in the same case and was in jail.
