The investigating officer brought an indictment against eight people, including Chhatra League activist Saifur Rahman, as the main defendant in the gang rape of a housewife while her husband was tied up at the Sylhet MC College Hostel.
Two separate charge sheets were filed in Amli’s court on Thursday. According to the charge sheet, six people were directly involved in the violation.
In addition, two accomplices in the violation have been included. It is further said that before the rape at the university hostel, Misbaul Islam Rajan and a stranger Md took the housewife to a house. Ainuddin raped Ainul.

Suhail Reza said a charge sheet was filed against the defendants under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act and another charge sheet was filed under the panel code. According to his charge sheet, the defendants directly involved in the rape are: Chhatra Saifur League activists, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Tarekul Islam Tarek, Arjun Laskar, Misbaul Islam Rajan and outsider Md. Ainuddin. Furthermore, BCL activists Rabiul Hasan and Mahfuzur Rahman Masum have been included on the charge sheet as being accomplices in the violation. Records of charges have been filed against eight people for organized rape.
According to the charge sheet, Rajan and Ainul raped the housewife at House No. 21, Road No. 1, Rajpara Residential Area, Tilagarh before gang-raping her at the shelter. After leaving there, Rajan and Ainul informed Saifur and others about the girl’s location on their mobile phones. Saifur Rahman, Tarekul Islam Tarek, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Arjun Laskar, Mahfuzur Rahman Masum and Rabiul Hasan stopped the housewife’s car at the gate of MC College. Then they took her husband out of the car and demanded 50,000 rupees from him. When they refused to pay, Saifur, Arjun, Tareq, and Ronnie picked them up from the car. Tareq drives the car. Masum and Rabiul follow the car with the motorcycle. Down to the fifth floor of the sixth block of the hostel. Masum and Rabiul got her husband out of the car. They took him to the side of the building and beat him. At that time, Saifur first brutally tortured the housewife in the car. Then Tareq, Ronnie and Arjun brutally tortured him. As he got out of the car, he scared them and took them out of the shelter.
The charge sheet further stated that the police arrived at the scene and found the plaintiff’s car inside the shelter. The police were able to learn the names of the rapists by questioning the boy who was an eyewitness on the second floor of the building. The charge sheet also mentioned that the defendants were identified by showing photographs of other students from the hostel.
It can be mentioned that on the night of September 25, a housewife was gang-raped in the MC College dorm. After rescuing the victim, the police admitted her to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and returned home after three days of treatment at OCC. That same night, the husband of the raped housewife filed a lawsuit against the BCL leader, a follower of the Awami League leader Ranjit Sarkar, at the Shahparan police station. After this incident, when the brawl began across the country, including Sylhet, the forces of order launched raids in different places to catch the accused. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-9) arrested four people in connection with the incident. In addition, the Sylhet district police arrested two people, the Sunamgganj and Habiganj police arrested two people.
After the arrest, the police detained the eight defendants for five days and interrogated them. After pre-trial detention, they testified in court under article 164. In the statement, the main defendants Saifur, Tareq, Rony and Arjun confessed to the rape. Rabiul and Mahfuzur confessed to having collaborated in the rape. Suspects Misbauer Rajan and Ainul also testified. In addition, the investigator received the DNA report of the accused on November 29. While investigating the case, Indranil Bhattacharya, the investigating officer for the case, filed the charge sheet at the Main Metropolitan Magistrates Court on Thursday.

When asked if any of the seven defendants in the case failed to catch the SMP, he said: “Their main objective was to catch the defendant.” They have confirmed the location of all the accused.
