Khandaker Musharraf also said the 1971 fires would be observed on March 1, March 2 and March 3.

Zia’s March 7 speech had a ‘green signal’
Mirza Abbas, a member of the BNP’s standing committee, told the meeting: “The Awami League is angry about the observance of March 7. March 8 is a small part of the 50-year history.
“When the March 7 speech was delivered, I was in front of the bamboo barricade on the left side of the stage with people from my area. What did we expect on March 7? An announcement will come. But no, no announcement came. If someone says, this country has not become independent by the declaration of any major; We can also say that the country did not become independent as of March 7 ”.
BNP standing committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said: “I was one of those who were present at the racecourse on March 7. He gave a speech on March 7. But the declaration of independence in that speech was not real.
“The next day, the Awami League issued a press release. The press release was signed by Mr. Tajuddin Ahmed and stated that the speech was delivered to bring the majority party to power to assert the rights of Bengalis. So it is not a declaration of independence. That was found in the Awami League press release. We want to say that the declaration of independence and the March 7 speech are not the same ”.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Selima Rahman, members of the party’s standing committee, also addressed the discussion meeting chaired by Abdus Salam, secretary member of the BNP’s National Golden Jubilee Committee.
BNP Secretary General Fakhrul said: “The Awami League is deliberately depriving this new generation of that story and giving them a false story.
