A schoolgirl in the tenth class was called from her home in Raipura de Narsingdi and accused of raping her.
The victim was rescued and kept in police custody. The victim’s family filed a case at the Raipura police station on Friday afternoon alleging abuse of women and children against the BCL president and two other people.
Defendant Asadul Haque Chowdhury Shakil is the president of the Raipura Upazila Chhatra League. The incident has sparked a storm of criticism in the area.
According to the police and the victim’s family sources, the president of the Raipura Upazila Chhatra League, Shakil, called a tenth-class schoolgirl from her home in Nabiabad village to the Raju Auditorium around 10 p.m. Thursday. Later, he brutally tortured her around 11pm.
At that moment, the surrounding people came screaming at the schoolgirl. At that moment Shakil managed to escape. Later, when the matter was reported by calling ‘999’, the Raipura police rescued the victim and took her to the police station.
Raipura police have confirmed the incident.
The victim’s father said: The leader of the Chhatra League, Shakil, tortured my daughter inhumanely. I want a fair trial.
Confirming the incident, the Raipura OC Mohsin Qadir police station told reporters that a case has been brought against the two, including the BCL leader, in connection with the allegations made by the victim’s family. The victim has been in police custody.
