An SI police officer has been charged with rape through a fraudulent marriage in Sherpur. On Thursday a case was brought to the Sherpur Abuse Suppression Court for Women and Children. Court judge. A 22-year-old woman from Nalitabari Upazila filed a lawsuit against him under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act.
The plaintiff’s attorney, attorney Mokleshur Rahman Akand, said SI Sabur was working at the Nalitabari Police Station in 2016. At the time, he was the investigating officer in a defamation case brought by a young woman. Due to the investigation of the case, a close relationship developed between the two. In a stage of intimacy, her marriage to the applicant’s husband ended in divorce. Later, SI Sabur arranged the marriage drama with the victim and lived as husband and wife.
When SI Sabur was recently transferred to the Nakla police station on October 1 when the victim demanded alimony, SI Sabur informed her that they were not married.
An attempt was made to contact SI Sabur in this regard, but no statement was received from him.
Nakla OC Police Station (Investigation) Hashem Uddin told reporters that the police department would not be held responsible for any personal crime.
