A case has been brought against five people, including the president of the Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance and the former Minister of State for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim, for distorting history by introducing the late BNP president, Ziaur Rahman. Ekushey medalist Chharakar Abu Saleh presented the case in the Court of the Second Deputy Superior Judge in Dhaka on Monday (September 26).
BNP supporters Masud Ahmed Talukder and Omar Farooq Farooqui were in favor of the plaintiff. Another pro-BNP lawyer, Hannan Bhuiyan, confirmed the information to the Bangla Tribune. He said that a hearing on the admissibility of the case would be held on Tuesday (September 29) at 10:30 a.m.
Other defendants in the case are actor Saju Khadem, playwright Mannan Hira, MP from Noakhali-2 and RTV president Morshed Alam, and the secretary of the Ministry of Information.
It is worth mentioning that, in protest at the acquittal of the murder of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a drama called “Indemnity” was recently broadcast on various channels, including satellite television and Facebook. It also highlights the power-sharing and behind-the-scenes incidents of Pakistan’s allies after the brutal assassination of the Father of the Nation in 1965.
