The Cricket Board for England and Wales on Monday appointed a 14-member team for the T20 and a 13-member team for the ODI. Root is on the ODI team.

He took eight wickets and scored 96 runs against Ireland in England’s last ODI series. Despite being in the T20 team against Pakistan, he had no chance at XI in the first two games.
All-rounder Ben Stokes, who flew to New Zealand to see his father with cancer, was not considered by any team.
This is the first time since the tour of South Africa in February that England have found a nearly complete squad for white ball cricket. In the Covid-19 situation, selectors had to present separate teams for Test and limited overs cricket in the consecutive series.
England and Australia will meet in the first T20 of the three-game series in Southampton next Friday. The three-game ODI series will begin on September 11 in Manchester.
