Satish is currently working in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Detectives also conducted a search there. They also searched her house in Ghaziabad. His home in Salt Lake, Kolkata has been sealed.
The IWC also searched the houses of his two companions, Golam Mustafa and Anarul Sheikh, in Kulgachhia, in the village of Enamul in Murshidabad.
According to Anandabazar’s report, Jibu de Mathew, a BSF commander working in West Bengal, was arrested in 2016 with a large sum of money incompatible with his income. The investigation revealed that he received the money as a bribe from the cattle smuggling ring.
Enamul Haque, a businessman, was arrested after questioning Jibu. He was later released on bail.
Citing CBI officials, Anandabazar wrote that the Enamul union would have needed at least Tk 32,000 to transport a couple of cows across the border to Bangladesh. If the cow were big, this money would go up from 50 to 60 thousand rupees.
According to the IWC’s preliminary investigation report on cattle smuggling in 2016, the Enamul gang is unrivaled since 2015, surpassing all cattle smuggling networks on the Malda-Murshidabad border.
He also admitted in interrogation in CBI custody that several influential political personalities from the state were involved in the monopoly business, CBI detectives said.

Ghaziabad resident Satish took over as commander of the 20th Battalion in Malda in 2015. The following year, Jibu was assigned to the 63rd Battalion. Both battalions were stationed in Malda and Murshidabad from Raninagar on the Indo-Bangladesh border to Dhulian.
Citing CBI officials, Anandabazar wrote that cattle smuggling is a long-standing business in the area. More than one union was involved in that business. Enamul joined him in 2015. At that time he was assisted by a powerful political leader from the Murshidabad district. With their support, he overthrew the rest and established absolute dominance.
During the preliminary investigation, IWC officials learned that cattle from other states first arrived at a Bishu Sheikh dera in Ilambazar, Birbhum. From there, the Bishu Sheikh clique was responsible for crossing the barbed wire fence and sending it to Bangladesh.

A CBI official told Anandabazar: “Bishu used to do business by stamping and advertising. A large part of the state administration, such as the BSF or the customs department, has also benefited financially from Bishu.
“During questioning, Bishu himself, alias Enamul, said that the seal was used to prevent someone from stopping his cattle from Ilambazar to the border. It is not possible to run illegal businesses in this way without a good reputation in state politics. BSF and customs used to help smuggling across the border, but why weren’t the Bishu cattle stopped the rest of the way?
CBI officials said Satish Kumar was the commander of the 36th BSF Battalion in the state from December 2015 to April 2017. In those 18 months, his forces seized about 20,000 cows on the Bangladesh border in Malda districts. and Murshidabad. But the confiscated cow was being calved on official BSF documents. After that, the ‘calf’ would be auctioned on the local market at a price much lower than the price of the cow. And at the auction, Bishu Shekhara would buy that cow again at a lower price. The cows bought at auction were again smuggled across the border into Bangladesh. The BSF was allocated 2,000 rupees per cow. And 500 rupees for customs.
Bishu Sheikh told CBI that in addition to BSF and customs, many people have benefited financially.
Detectives are now investigating how accurate his claim is.
Initial CBI investigations revealed that, in addition to Satish, at least five other senior BSF officers and some customs officers were receiving fat masohara from Bishu Sheikh. The list also includes lower-level BSF officers.
