There were clashes and shootings by RAB members with drug traffickers while they carried out anti-drug operations on the border of Dinajpur. At one stage of the incident, two RAB members, including an officer, crossed the border into India and were detained by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

The BSF returned two injured RAB members via a flag meeting on Tuesday night.

The two members of the RAB are RAB-13 Dinajpur Crime Prevention Company (CPC) -1, ASP Deputy Commander Shyamal Sharma and Agent Abu Bakkar Siddique.

According to locals, RAB-13 Dinajpur Crime Prevention Company conducted a white-clad anti-drug campaign in the Samjia Mandalpara area on the Amtali Swaraswatipur border in Chirirbandar upazila on Tuesday afternoon based on secret information about the massive increase in smuggling of drugs at the border. In the border area, the RAB members divided into two groups, three in one part and two RAB members in the other part.

But unknowingly, RAB members entered India through Border Pillar 306/1. There, a group of 3 RAB members arrested an Indian smuggler. When the smugglers started screaming, between 8 and 10 more smugglers came and attacked the RAB members. This led to clashes with members of the RAB.

At that moment, three RAB members fired a projectile in self-defense and managed to escape. Hearing the shots, two RAB members on the other side ran to rescue them. At that time, the drug traffickers also attacked the two RAB members.

Upon receiving the news, BSF members from Camp Samjia in India went to the scene and rescued Deputy Commander ASP Shyamal Sharma from CPC-1 of RAB-13 Dinajpur, ASP Shyamal Sharma, and Sheriff Abu Bakkar Siddique from the smugglers and kept them in the camp in critical condition. The BSF returned the two detained RAB members to the BGB via a flag meeting at 12:15 pm.

RAB-13 Dinajpur CPC-1 Captain Lt. Colonel Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the information on Wednesday, saying ASP Deputy Captain Shyamal Sharma and Sheriff Abu Bakkar Siddique were rescued from the BSF in critical condition overnight and are currently in treatment. .

In this sense, the director of the law and media wing of the RAB headquarters, Lt. Colonel Ashiq Billa said that a five-member team from RAB-13 Dinajpur CPC-1 carried out a counter-drug operation in the Amtali border area on Tuesday following specific allegations. When the unexpected happened, two RAB members took refuge in a house in India. From there, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) rescued them and returned them via a flag gathering.

Battalion Commander BGB-29 Lt. Despite repeated attempts to contact Colonel Sharifullah Abed on his mobile phone, he did not receive any calls.

Drug smuggling has been known to increase recklessly across the border from the Dinajpur district that borders India for some time. Border drug traffickers have become reckless in selling drugs freely, as they are unusually profitable and in almost every part of the district. Various drugs come freely to Bangladesh from India across the border.
