The train does not stop at Brahmanbaria station.

Friday four in the afternoon. On the way from Dhaka to the Karnafuli Express bound for Dhaka to Brahmanbaria Station, there was a sudden commotion when crossing the TA Road gate. A few volunteers, including a boot and nut vendor, stood in front of the railway gate. They stopped the vehicles. This is not the end. The train departed for the next station without stopping at the Brahmanbaria train station. That is why one was heard to say with regret, “Even that (mail) train has become an intercity for Brahmanbaria today.”

Thousands of vehicles pass through the gate every day for the last week, taking risks because the railway line damaged by the violence no longer works. The suffering of thousands of passengers in Brahmanbaria has no end because the train does not stop.

Yet human suffering in Brahmanbaria is now at its peak due to violence. Services are closed at various governmental and non-governmental organizations, including district councils, land offices, and municipalities. Personally, the victims now have their hands on their heads. The stagnation has also eased in the music hall of Brahmanbaria.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the National Press Club visited the affected areas on Thursday. At that time, they called the coup to journalists a blow to democracy. Mahmudul Haque Bhuiyan, an “expelled member” of the party’s executive committee, told a news conference Thursday that the Brahmanbaria district Awami League had also failed to stop the violence in Hefazat-e-Islam.

Poor matin

Matin Mia spends most of the day in the Municipal Auditorium of Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Bahasa Chattar and Sur Samrat Ustad Di Alauddin Khan. Come here and just shed tears and you want to know the solution. Matin Mia is almost crazy now.

Abdul Matin Miah, the owner of ‘Matin Sound System’, was burned during the March 26 strike. His belongings worth at least 18 lakh Tk were burned to the ground in those two locations. There were six soundboards, three soundboard machines, a mixing machine, 16 voice processors (microphones), 14 microphone stands, a generator. He rented them for the event organized by the district administration.

Matin’s family of nine, including parents, brothers and sisters, a wife and three daughters, ran on his income. Now he is concerned with running the family. Find the dream goods in the burning place. We want to assure those who come to visit these places that they get compensation for the goods.

Talking to Matin Mia at the burned place. In a tearful voice, he said: ‘Now I am helpless because my livelihood has been burned. Now there is no food in my family. I lead the family more than my friends. If it continues in that way, there will be no other way out than suicide.

Press Club Leaders Inspection

Farida Yasmin, president of the National Press Club, said: Otherwise, why would journalists be attacked? Why burn the journalists’ car? This has never happened before. We have to be united in the work of the profession.

Farida Yasmin said this at an exchange meeting held at the Brahmanbaria Press Club on Friday afternoon. A delegation from the National Press Club headed by Farida Yasmin visited the Brahmanbaria Press Club, which was damaged by the violence of Hefazat-e-Islam activists. Jabed Rahim Bijan, secretary general of the National Press Club, described the attack on the press club on the leaders. Riaz Uddin Jami, president of the Press Club, who was attacked by Hefazat activists and supporters, also gave details of the attack against him.

Farida Yasmin said: ‘In any case, it means hitting journalists, everyone has to think it’s a hit for me. Because we have to work together to maintain this profession. We will work together as professionals. Because there is no alternative to unity. We stand alongside the entire journalistic community in the country, including the Brahmanbaria Press Club.

He added: “The people of Brahmanbaria, the capital of culture, are considered to be much more progressive. Journalists always talk about progress, democracy and people. Journalists cannot shirk responsibility like ten other people. We ran to the Brahmanbaria Press Club thinking it was an injury. If journalists are attacked anywhere in Bangladesh, we think it is an attack against us.

The Awami League was unable to stop the attack.

Mahmudul Haque Bhuiyan, an “expelled member” of the party’s executive committee, said that the Awami League of Brahmanbaria district had also failed to stop the violence in Hefazat-e-Islam. He made the remarks at a press conference at the Brahmanbaria Press Club at 11 a.m. Friday. He mentioned that he has held himself accountable for failure as a team worker.

The Central Awami League expelled Mahmudul Haque Bhuiyan from the party on the recommendation of the district Awami League for contesting the mayoral election against the party’s candidate in the last municipal elections in Brahmanbaria. However, Mahmudul Haque Bhuiyan stated at the press conference that he had not received any expulsion letter. The Awami League has alleged that the defeated candidates and their supporters may have been involved in the attack.

Mahmudul Haque Bhuiyan said that the Awami League has been in power for a long time. But the district Awami League was unable to stop the violence. To avoid responsibility for this breach, accusations have been brought against me centered on the last municipal elections. I cannot believe that someone who believes in the ideology of Bangabandhu can get involved in such activities.

Referring to the beginning of the incident, he said: “The procession was led by the district president of the Awami League, Moktadir Chowdhury, and the general secretary, Al-Mamun Sarkar. If you look closely at the video footage of those who incited Madara’s students from behind the procession, you will see that they are disguised as the Awami League and infiltrators, none of them are Bangabandhu soldiers.

He said: ‘Kandipara and Shimrailkandi are areas inhabited by BNP-Chhatra Dal. The great madrasa is also in that area. From what I was able to see from inside my front door, it seemed to me that a large number of Kandipara-Shimrailkandi students were involved in the incident.

Violence broke out in Brahmanbaria on March 26, 27 and 28 in anticipation of the ‘anti-Modi’ movement. In those three days, the houses of leaders and workers of more than a hundred governmental and non-governmental organizations, the Awami League and its affiliated organizations were reduced to ashes. At least 13 people died in the clashes.
