Boyfriend, aunt and two other people were granted preventive detention while hiding the box

Meanwhile, a month and 20 days after the incident, police recovered the half-dead body of Rafiqul Islam Rony, 47, from Aunt Ruma’s septic tank in Rampal, Munshiganj, on Wednesday night. Police arrested Ruma, 51, and her daughter Ambia, 38, in connection with the incident.

The deceased was identified as Rony Narayanganj, son of the late Kazi Zahir Uddin from the Fatulla area.

Munshiganj (Sadar Circle) Additional Police Superintendent Ashfaquzzaman said the arrested aunt told Ruma that Ronnie’s body was hidden in a septic tank at one stage of the interrogation. Ronnie’s body was recovered based on the information he provided.

The Additional Superintendent of Police further said that during preliminary questioning, the late Ruma’s aunt said she had a long-term immoral relationship with Ronnie. On the night of November 3, Ronnie spent the night at her lover’s (Aunt Ruma) house. The next morning, when another relative named Kamal arrived at their home, Ronnie hid inside a wooden chest in the house for fear of being caught. At that moment, the ark was suddenly closed. When the relatives left, Ruma opened the chest and saw that Ronnie had died of suffocation. Later, Ronnie’s body was dumped into an abandoned septic tank at his home with the help of his maid Ambia.

The police superintendent said the arrested Ruma and his daughter Ambia were presented in court on Thursday and a request for pretrial detention was requested. The court granted a two-day preventive detention.

The victim’s brother filed a murder case at the Munshiganj Sadar Police Station last night. The man’s body was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy, the police superintendent said.
