On Thursday, Stanley said he was in the process of applying for a French passport to maintain relations with the European Union (EU) after Brexit.
Stanley Johnson is a former member of the European Parliament. He voted to stay in the EU in a 2016 referendum in the UK.
Stanley told France’s RTL radio that he wanted to be a French citizen due to his strong family ties to France.
“As far as I know, I’m French,” Stanley Johnson, 60, said in French. My mother was born in France, her mother was perfectly French; Even his grandfather was French. So for me, it’s like claiming what I already have. And that is my joy ”.
“I will always be a European, for sure. No one can tell the British people: you are not European. It is important to maintain ties with the European Union.”
Although Stanley took a firm stance for the EU, his son, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, was at the forefront of the campaign for the UK to leave the EU in the 2016 referendum.
Boris said at the time that the UK could move forward with a new bureaucracy as a fully sovereign country, outside of an additional bureaucratic EU.
However, after the British Parliament approved a new post-Brexit trade deal with the EU on Wednesday, Boris Johnson’s voice sounded like a lot of consensus.
He says this is not the end of Britain as a European country. In many ways, as the country of European civilization, the UK will continue that trend.
