From Donia University College: The count is already underway after the by-elections in Dhaka-5. The results have been announced.
So far, Kazi Monirul Islam Manu of the Awami League leads in the results of three centers.
Voting took place for eight hours on Saturday (October 18) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Voters exercised their right to vote through the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in 64 voting booths in 16 centers. However, the absence of voters in the electoral college was noted.
The results of the Dhaka-5 by-elections are being announced by Donia University College in the capital. Monir Hossain Khan, Senior District Elections Officer, announces the results.
The Awami League candidate, Kazi Monirul Islam Manu, garnered 135 votes for the ship symbol. His closest rival, Salahuddin Ahmed of BNP, got 36 votes.
Supporters of the candidates have gathered outside the facilities of Donia University College to hear the results. Among them are the reserved defender of parliament Sanjeeda Khanam and the deputy general secretary of the Dhaka South Metropolitan Awami League, Morshed Kamal.
A large number of law enforcement officers are present to deal with any kind of unpleasant situation.
On May 8, the death of Habibur Rahman Mollah vacated the Dhaka-5 post. After that, the Electoral Commission (EC) announced the calendar of the by-elections in this constituency on September 3.
Candidates competing in the Dhaka-5 by-elections are Kazi Monirul Islam Manu (Boat) from the Awami League, Salahuddin Ahmed (Sheaf of Rice) from BNP, HM Ibrahim Bhuiyan (Fish) from the Popular Front, Mir Abdus Sabur (Plow ) from the Jatiya Party, Anshar Rahman Sikder from the Bangladesh Congress. (Dub) and Arifur Rahman Sumon Master (Mango) of the National People’s Party.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) consists of 47, 49, 50, 60, 61, 72, 64, 65, 6, 7, 8, 69 and 70 districts (Demra and Motijheel). There are 2 lakh 41 thousand 474 men and 2 lakh 29 thousand 75 women voters and the total number of voters is 4 lakh 61 thousand 129.
