The Secretary General of the Awami League and the Minister of Road Transport, Obaidul Quader, said that the BNP is the main obstacle on the way to the institutionalization of democracy.

He said this after paying tribute on behalf of the Awami League at Nur Hossain Chattar in Gulistan on the occasion of Shaheed Nur Hossain Day on Tuesday.

Quader said: ‘Democracy has been launched today. But if democracy cannot be institutionalized, if the aspirations of 3 million martyrs to establish a secular, progressive, liberal and democratic Bangladesh cannot be established, true democracy cannot be established well. The BNP is the main obstacle in the way of institutionalizing democracy.

Addressing the BNP, he said: “The patronage of the murderers of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the anti-conscience ideology of the liberation war that the birth of a political party does not suit them.” They had democracy, yes and no voting democracy. There were no ballot boxes in that vote. That day, 110 percent of the votes were cast in some centers. Their democracy is a curfew democracy.

“I urge the BNP to return to the path of democracy,” he said. Get back to the positive trend in politics. Get out of the conspiracy to undermine democracy. Avoid the politics of seizing power through conspiracies and back doors. Let us unite under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter, Sheikh Hasina, to build a prosperous developed democratic progressive non-communal state based on the spirit of liberation war for the next generation.

Obaidul Quader said that Nur Hossain played the role of a brave hero in the ongoing democratic movement led by Bangabandhu’s daughter, Sheikh Hasina. Nur Hossain wrote on his chest: Let the dictatorship be destroyed, let democracy be liberated. Nur Hossain’s body was a living political poster that day. Shaheed Nur Hossain kindled the flames of fighting in the minds of the Bengalis.
