The BNP will hold two demonstrations in the capital to demand elections under a neutral, non-partisan government. The party will hold rallies in Dhaka North City on March 10 and South City on March 18.
BNP will hold two rallies at Karwan Bazar Junction in North Dhaka, Mohammadpur Shaheed Park or Khilgaon Taltola Ground and in front of BNP Headquarters in Nayapaltan in South, Brothers Union Club Ground or anywhere in Suhrawardy Udyan.
The BNP delegation met with DMP Joint Commissioner Monir Hossain on Monday afternoon to brief him on the demonstration.
After the meeting, BNP publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury told reporters: “We have already resumed the program in all divisional cities.” The shows are in the context of vote manipulation. In the latest city corporation elections and the elections that are taking place across the country, the vote is being rigged, voting is being done during the day, and the people of the country are being deprived of the right to vote. As part of this, we have convened two public meetings in Dhaka. One is in Dhaka North and the other is in the Dhaka South City Corporation area. We have already informed DMP Joint Commissioner Monir Hossain about this. We look forward to hosting these two rallies on March 10th and 16th.
BNP International Affairs Committee member and mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation, engineer Ishraq Hossain, said: ‘I did not come here to ask permission. Nowhere in our constitution does it say that meetings must be held with permission. We will meet. And to ensure the safety of our assembly, I have come today to report to the DMP Joint Commissioner. Who else should I ask for permission? We are not giving legitimacy to this government.
BNP central committee member and mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation, Tabitha Awal, said: “We are hopeful that we will be able to hold two demonstrations in Dhaka on the 10th and 16th.” We are always in a positive movement. We hope that the forces of order will help us in every possible way.
