The BNP has given a flat to the family of the late Shafiul Bari Babu, former president of the Voluntary Nationalist Party.

On Sunday, Shafiul Bari Babu visited Eskaton’s home and handed over the necessary documents from the apartment to Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on behalf of the party to his wife Bithika Binte Hossain.

The two sons of the BNP nominees, Sheikh Rabiul Alam Robi and Shafiul Bari Babu, Bari Tuhin and Ayhan Bari, were present at the time.

Shafiul Bari Babu, a former secretary general of the nationalist Chhatra Dal, died in a hospital in the capital on July 26 after a long battle with cancer. He was 51 years old. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Shafiul Bari Babu was involved in the politics of the nationalist Chhatra Dal from his student life. He was the president of Dhaka University, Chhatra Dal, and the general secretary of Kendriya Chhatra Dal. Later, the BNP and its allies have worked tirelessly in various organizational positions of the Swachchasebak Dal. BNP President and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has been involved in the movement for freedom of expression and the resurgence of democracy as a youth leader. He had a responsibility towards democracy. His courageous leadership in all party crises was an inspiration to leaders and workers. He had to be imprisoned many times during the Awami League rule.

Shafiul Bari Babu brought a new dimension to student politics when he was General Secretary of Chhatra Dal. His identity as an honest, hard-working, and efficient organizer dates back to his life as a student. He took politics as a vow of life. He devoted himself to the team’s program. As chairman of Swachchasebak Dal, he supported the party leaders and workers and supported the people affected by any natural calamity in the country. He set an example in relief efforts for people who are terrified and helpless in the current global epidemic.
