Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and Abdur Rashid Chunnu were the presidential candidates and Shahadat Mridha and Rob Mia were the general secretary candidates. On January 5, 2012, Altaf Hossain was again announced as president and Rob Mia as general secretary of the BNP district committee. The next day, Abdur Rashid and Snehanshu, government-backed leaders and activists, staged a protest in the city demanding the cancellation of the committee. Since then, they have been carrying out all the party’s programs separately. Rob Mia died in the process. Lawyer Wahid Sarwar Kalam received the charge.
