Muktijuddha Mancha leaders and activists have blocked the Shahbagh intersection in the capital demanding the arrest of Maulana Mamunul Haque, deputy general secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam, and Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, high-naib of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh.
A large number of leaders and activists of the organization took position at the Shahbagh crossing starting at 4 pm on Saturday before the call of Aminul Islam Bulbul and Al Mamun of the Mancha Liberation War. Later, they blocked the road at the Shahbagh junction and started a mass demonstration. The leaders spoke by setting up the stage in a mini truck. Among others present on the occasion were Manch Central President Aminul Islam Bulbul, General Secretary Al Mamun, Dhaka University Branch President Sonnet Mahmud, and Secretary General Yasir Arafat.
The seven-point demands of the Mancha Liberation War include the speedy arrest and exemplary punishment of Mamunul Haque and Faizul Karim, who opposed the construction of the Bangabandhu sculpture; Construction of Bangabandhu sculptures in every educational institution and upazila-district of the country; Immediate ban on religious policy in Bangladesh to maintain community harmony.
