The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has won 125 out of 243 seats in the Bihar Assembly, according to the country’s electoral commission.

The NDA alliance is coming to power in Bihar again, as the 122 seats needed to form the government in the state have been secured.

Many saw the Bihar elections as proof of the Modi administration’s response to the Kovid-19 epidemic, with the NDA alliance passing the test with good marks. The BJP has become the alliance’s biggest ally in the elections.

Reacting to the victory, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: “Democracy has won again in Bihar. Bihar voters have made it clear that development is their only priority.”

This vote in Bihar was the first major election in India since the beginning of the epidemic. The votes were counted on Tuesday after the election was completed through three rounds of voting.

The NDA defeated the regional alliance led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) ‘Mahagathbandhan’ in a return-to-the-cabin poll.

Nitish Kumar’s JDU (People’s United Party), who has been Bihar’s Chief Minister for 15 consecutive years, has not been able to get much support from the NDA alliance. The BJP won 64 seats and the JDU 43 seats, according to NDTV.

Despite falling behind the opposition’s ‘grand alliance’ of strong rivalries with the NDA alliance, its ally RJD emerged as the largest party in Bihar with 65 seats. Tejaswi Yadav, the son of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, the party’s leader, has been able to establish himself through these elections, the Anandabazar newspaper reported.

Congress, another ally of the Mahagathbandhan alliance, ran 70 seats but won only 19. Analysts believe that the defeat of Congress was the reason for the defeat of this alliance. The other three left-wing parties in the alliance won 18 seats, of which the PCI (Marxist-Leninist) won 12 seats.

Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM showed surprise in the elections. They have won five Muslim-majority seats in Bihar’s northern border region.
